River Run Golf Club & Community

I had read some wildly different reviews about River Run Golf Club. My son and I played the course years ago pre-Covid. We remembered having a good round there and it was a beautiful course. My son had forgotten his clubs back in Philadelphia so we had to rent a set of clubs for $45. I believe that our round of golf cost us $69 each. We did not think that the prices were outlandish at the time. The starter Tyler warned us that the course was undergoing some renovations due to a change in management and the two holes, I believe the 11th and the 13th were being replanted, but that we could play them.

We are not amateur golfers to say the least, that would be giving us too much credit! My son is in fairly good shape, and he tolerated my effort to keep up. We both had that one tee shot that keeps you coming back and playing no matter how bad your round is. We both hit beautiful and straight drives from the 17th tee.

River Run needs a lot of work, I have played municipal courses that were in better shape. I have included some photos of examples of the devastation. There are some areas that are rutted or bare in the middle of the fairway, a couple of the tee boxes were poorly maintained and the greens were very inconsistent. I get that this is the end of the season when most repairs are done before the fall golf packages are offered, but charging $70 to play this round of golf felt like a rip off. They should have loaned my son a set of clubs and charged us $50 at most!

This is one time that I should have believed what I read and you can go and look for yourself in other reviews. The description of the course says it was designed by Gary Player and that it is a championship level course. I think they should revise that to say that the course is undergoing renovations and to play at your own risk.

Course was in very poor condition. Fairways were gone (see below) on many holes. I hope this place fixes itself up, because the layout is very player friendly. I expected much more from a Gary Player design. 🤔🫩

Terrible. Paid 66$ because two holes are completely closed. Regular rate was supposedly 120$, but it wasn't worth 20$. I've played it in the past and it was beautiful. So it will be a long time before i return even though the word from the Bag Boy is that it is under new management and they plan on doing major improvements. Word is they plan are planning on raising the Greens Fee to 225$. It's a nice layout but the poor conditions will leave a very sour taste in your mouth.
